Why the New Campus Is Being Developed

AUD currently operates from campuses at Kashmere Gate and Karampura. The heritage campus at Kashmere Gate has limited scope for expansion because of conservation regulations and site constraints. In addition, increasing enrolment over recent years has created greater demand for classrooms, laboratories, research facilities and student accommodation.

The Dheerpur campus has therefore been planned to provide additional academic capacity while supporting the Delhi Government’s broader efforts to strengthen public higher education infrastructure. The expansion is also intended to create modern learning environments that encourage interdisciplinary teaching and research in line with NEP 2020.

Academic and Campus Infrastructure

To accommodate future demand, the EFC has directed the university to reserve an additional six to eight acres for hostel expansion.

Sustainability and Planning

Located next to the Dheerpur Wetlands, the campus has been planned with environmental safeguards. The project proposes a GRIHA 5-Star green building rating and includes solar and geothermal energy systems, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling and zero-waste management measures. Compensatory tree plantation and landscaped green spaces have also been incorporated into the planning framework.
