IIT Madras Releases Orientation Schedule for the 2026–27 Academic Session

Undergraduate Reporting Schedule
Students admitted to B.Tech, B.S. and Dual Degree programmes may report to the CCW Office on or before their allotted document verification date to complete hostel formalities.
The institute has clarified that parents and guardians cannot be accommodated on campus because of limited hostel capacity. Visitors are required to arrange their own stay, and hostel rooms are reserved exclusively for students.

Orientation and Department Visits
The institute-level orientation is scheduled for 25 July 2026. The forenoon session is reserved for undergraduate students, while the afternoon session is intended for parents and guardians. Those unable to attend in person may watch the programme through the online link provided by the institute.
Families may visit the academic departments between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on the same day. Separate department-level orientation sessions for students are scheduled for 29 July 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Five-Day Immersion Programme
The Immersion Programme will be held from the afternoon of 25 July to the forenoon of 29 July 2026.
Developed in accordance with IIT Council guidelines, the programme is intended to support students during their transition from school to higher education. It combines academic orientation with opportunities to interact with peers, faculty members and senior students.

Male M.Tech students have been allotted accommodation in Mandakini-A Hostel, while female students have been assigned rooms in Swarnamukhi or Sabarmati hostels.
