Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has assured NEET UG 2026 candidates that the re-examination scheduled for 21 June will be conducted smoothly, with enhanced security measures and a focus on timely declaration of results. The assurance comes amid heightened scrutiny following the cancellation of the original examination over an alleged paper leak.
Speaking after reviewing preparations at the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters, Pradhan said authorities are working to ensure a “zero-error” examination process. He noted that multiple ministries, state governments and security agencies have been involved in the preparations to strengthen the integrity of the re-test.
Security Measures Strengthened
According to official briefings, additional safeguards have been introduced at various stages of the examination process, including question paper handling, transportation and centre-level monitoring. The government has also coordinated with state administrations to support secure conduct of the examination.
For the first time, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is expected to assist in transporting question paper packets to selected locations as part of a broader security framework. Authorities say the move is intended to strengthen the chain of custody and reduce the risk of tampering during transit.

Officials have indicated that confidentiality protocols have been strengthened from the stage of question paper preparation through final delivery to examination centres.

The original NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted on 3 May, was cancelled after reports of a question paper leak surfaced. Following the cancellation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched an inquiry into the matter, while the NTA announced a fresh examination for eligible candidates.
In parallel, the government has announced plans to move NEET UG to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format from 2027 as part of broader examination reforms aimed at strengthening security and transparency.
