Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU), Nanded, has suspended first-year admissions to traditional postgraduate (PG) programmes in seven affiliated colleges for the 2026–27 academic session after an Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) found that the institutions had not adequately addressed academic and administrative deficiencies. The decision was approved by the university’s Academic Council and Board of Deans as part of its quality assurance measures for affiliated colleges.
The action follows a two-stage review process. After the initial audit, colleges that received poor ratings were directed to rectify identified shortcomings. Academic Audit Findings
SRTMU conducted an Academic and Administrative Audit of 72 affiliated colleges to assess academic quality, faculty strength, infrastructure, governance and institutional compliance. Such audits are intended to ensure that colleges maintain minimum academic standards before admitting students to higher education programmes.

Of the 29 colleges initially placed in the ‘F’ category, 18 were located in Nanded district, seven in Latur and four in Parbhani.
Reassessment Led to Relief for 22 Colleges
Following the publication of the audit findings, the university instructed all ‘F’ grade colleges to address the deficiencies identified during the inspection. An expert committee later carried out a reassessment to review compliance.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, 22 colleges were removed from the ‘F’ category. Sixteen institutions demonstrated satisfactory improvements, while six received relief on technical grounds, including cases where Academic and Administrative Audit proposals had been submitted despite the institutions not offering postgraduate programmes.

Professional Courses Remain Unaffected
The university has clarified that the decision does not apply to professional programmes such as Pharmacy, Law, B.Ed., M.Ed. and Physical Education. Admissions to these courses will continue in accordance with the applicable regulatory approvals and university regulations.
