KCET 2026 Result Timeline

The declaration process was delayed after a re-examination was scheduled in Hiriyur following allegations of malpractice during the Agriculture Science practical examination. Feedback shared after the examination indicated varying difficulty levels across subjects. Physics was generally considered manageable, while Chemistry was viewed by many candidates as comparatively difficult because of its stronger focus on Class 11 topics. Mathematics was described as lengthy despite being conceptually straightforward.
Rank Formula and Grace Marks
KEA will continue using the 50:50 weightage formula for merit ranking, as outlined in the KCET admission guidelines. Under this process, equal weightage is given to KCET scores and Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) marks.
Following objections raised after the examination, KEA decided to remove several disputed and out-of-syllabus questions from evaluation.

The authority has also confirmed grace marks for questions reported to contain incorrect solutions. In addition, one grace mark each in Physics and Chemistry will be awarded because of structural printing issues identified in the question papers.
According to statements issued during the admission process, the Karnataka government decided against conducting a fresh state-wide examination because many candidates were simultaneously appearing for national-level entrance examinations such as JEE, NEET, and COMEDK.
COVID-19 Batch Normalisation
Candidates from the 2020-21 academic session, when regular board examinations were cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic, will undergo a separate normalisation process.
Following proceedings before the Karnataka High Court, KEA was permitted to apply score adjustments intended to maintain parity between the COVID-19 batch and students from later academic sessions evaluated through regular board examinations.
Agriculture Practical Examination Controversy
A controversy emerged after reports indicated that 74 candidates from a single centre in Hiriyur secured full marks in the Agriculture Science practical examination, while comparatively fewer candidates achieved similar scores at other centres.
The issue led to demands for an inquiry and re-examination from student organisations and political representatives. KEA later clarified that the Agriculture practical examination was conducted by the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru, which served as the nodal authority for the test.
Engineering Counselling to Proceed Separately
The Karnataka government has announced that KCET engineering counselling will proceed independently instead of waiting for NEET counselling schedules.
The decision follows delays in the national medical admission process earlier this year. According to Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar, separating the counselling timelines is intended to avoid delays in engineering admissions.
Applicants who secure engineering seats through KCET but later obtain medical admissions through NEET will be permitted to shift courses. KEA has also indicated through revised counselling provisions that candidates leaving engineering admissions for medical seats will receive refunds of fees already paid.

DigiLocker Verification Requirement
Applicants from CBSE, CISCE, and other non-Karnataka boards were instructed to provide DigiLocker access through the KEA portal for automatic retrieval of Class 12 marks.
KEA stated that candidates failing to complete the verification process could face delays in result processing. Applicants have also been advised to follow only official portal instructions for document verification.
Proposal to Cap Computer Science Seats
The Karnataka government is considering a proposal to limit Computer Science and allied engineering seats because of concerns regarding rising unemployment among graduates in these streams.
